Waves that Gave
the bard and me
by Cian MacDonald-Milewski
The sand was soft
And the waves were strong.
On a sandy beach
In North Carolina,
I saw the waves
of the Atlantic Ocean,
And how they washed
Away the rocks and sand.
I went into those rumbling waves
And spotted something floating.
It was a huge hermit crab's shell.
I took the shell to the beach.
And there I saw
A lonely hermit crab.
It had no shell
So I gave it mine.
I came back
The next day
The hermit crab was still there
It looked very thankful.
I could tell it was
Full of joy.
Then I learned what life
Is all about.
It is about
The joy
You get by giving.
